Jordan Landon’s idyllic life becomes a nightmare when he arrives home one day to find a brief emotional note from his wife Jillienne. In the spring of 2016, I awoke from a dream in tears. Putting the fragments of the dream together, I found that I had material for a book. I was already in the midst of writing another book, so I worked on them both at the same time. In the fall, my husband was diagnosed with cancer, and so I had to stop working on The Arcadia Project because its likeness to his health was too similar to the subject of the book. I took up the task of completing the book in the spring of 2017 with a new awareness of the disease. Because The Arcadia Project centers on the heroine’s disappearance, I have written it from the husband’s view and kept the discovery of her plight a secret until halfway through the book.
Though the book may have a happy ending, my husband’s didn’t. He passed away on April 17th, 2019.
